In Other News, I'm A Dad.

Please welcome Mark Jerome to the world!

Mark Jerome, sleeping

Born February 6, 2007 at 1:48 PM, he's 21 inches long and weighed in at 8 lbs., 2 oz. at birth. Mom and boy are doing great - we're back from the hospital and all getting used to our new living arrangements. The Gatos are quite accepting of their new sibling, as you can see. Dad's just happy for some quiet time.

Dad, Son and kitty makes three

Many more photos can be found here, with updates every time I get enough sleep to operate a keyboard. You may now expect this blog to transform into the typical "new dad" blog for the foreseeable future, with ruminations on the nature of parenthood and proud, graphic descriptions of every one of my new son's achievements (and believe you me, most of his achievements in the first 72 hours of life require both medical terms and graphic description).

On a more serious note, I couldn't be more proud of Mark and his Mom. I was witness to something incredible on Tuesday, and watching the two of them (with the wonderful help of Doctor Gary Hoff and Nurse Laura) was an experience I doubt I'll ever equal.

And Mark. Wow, Mark. A good friend of mine with a lot of fatherly experience told me "You won't believe how fast you can fall in love." He was right.

YEEEEEEEEEY!!!! Holy Jesus!! That's wonderful! Mark looks really cool (ok, he's not really that resembling you yet, but he does look intelligent already). I must get one of those, too :)
