Forza Italia!

Update: Darek was kind enough to point out that the original video I'd link has gone away - I've replaced it with his suggestion.

Okay, I'm not much of a soccer football fan, but the final game of the World Cup was great fun to watch. The final moments were every bit as exciting as any nail-biting USC game. There's also something oddly appealing about knowing that you're sharing a moment with fully half the population of the entire planet.

Perhaps it's the savage in me, but Zidane's marvelous headbutt near the end of regulation was amazing. The sheer force he conveyed through his forehead is fearsome to behold. Yay Sport!

ha! I didn't know you're the fan. I myself became one this year only ;)

As Joanna and I spend 2 months in Rome, you can imagine how it looked like all around here :D It was actually spectacular. The triumphing crowds were much more impressive than Red Sox fans in Boston last year (ok, probably I was also more impressed by people screaming all around in a language I totally don't understand. I mean Italian.)

This head butt was... bizzare ;) and the funniest thing is that everybody (but for Italians, of course) justifies this assault by accepting Zidane's excuse that Matterazzi surely must have said something about Zidaine's mother. Or at least sister.

Btw, the video is no longer available, you may want to try this one:

Thanks for the tip! I"ve updated the post with the new video. I msut say it was a lot more impressive on a 200 inch projection screen - Zidane's head was the size of a wrecking ball.
