If you're a rabid early adopter like me, you've probably already installed Leopard and discovered that the original modem script doesn't work with the new OS. However, it's unlikely you then repackaged all of the modem scripts (BlackBerry 8100,8700 and 8800) into the new modem script format and made them available for download. If you did, why didn't you let me know?! You would have saved me a half-hour's worth of work. Sheesh, some people.

At any rate, if you're on Leopard and jonesing for a Bluetooth modem fix, here's what you do:

Download the new scripts. One download for all phone models!

Unzip that file into Macintosh HD:Library:Modem Scripts. The same location th old script lived. If successful, you should see a new directory named BlackBerry.ccl there.

Pair your phone as usual - when asked for the phone's Vendor and Model, choose 'Research in Motion' and whatever model of phone you have. I'm not a mind reader, you know.

The username, password and phone number fields should be filled in with the same values as before; namely, whatever is appropriate for your carrier. Check the forums if you're not sure.

That's it! I'd like to make an installer for this to make it even more seamless, but for now this should get you going. As always, let me know if you run into problems and I'll try to help.

I must admit that i'm not a big fan of forums but i have to tell you that i'm quite impressed with your work. Your scripts are recommended by Tmobile technicians. After an hour on the phone with them we still couldn't get my gear to work so i thought i would toss you a curve. Here goes:

I have an unlocked Storm 9530 on Tmobile and a powerbook running 10.5.7. i've tried various combinations of settings and each time it tells me that it can't connect to the carrier. As I mentioned, even Tmobile couldn't figure it out. any suggestions? thanks.

Help!
I'm not a techo-person, but I'm losing home internet access on Oct 31st (2 weeks from today) if I can't successfully bluetooth tether my MacBook OSX running 10.5.8 with my newly online-ordered (still in transit) Blackberry Perl 8220 Flip and use it as a modem (my cellular carrier is T-Mobile & I also upgraded my service plan online to add their unlimited web plan to my account). (Service is limited in our area, and the only satellite internet carrier available wants the unreasonable sum of $400 if you terminate your contract early, but I must have home internet service.)

I downloaded some Blackberry modem scripts from
http://www.fibble.org/archives/2007/10/updated-modem-s.html
, but did not install because none of them appear to be for the 8220 flip.

DESPERATE - (can't get DSL, Cable, & losing all Mac-friendly dial-up)

Sell advertising, answers, something (the other readers will shoot me for this!), but you provide a great service. So, here's my question (and email me a bill!), I think I followed the instructions but as the Mac says "connecting...." it quickly goes to "disconnecting...". What gives? I used to be able to do this easily and often, but I had to replace my phone a couple of months ago and it has to be re-done with the new phone and I've never been able to get it to work again. Thanks Guru! Larry

Just upgraded from an 8800 to a 9700 involuntarily when the 8800 auto-bricked itself. Anyway, on OSX the setup that worked perfectly for years with the 8800 will not work at all. And suddenly, T-Mobile says, "well, we no longer officially support tethering a Blackberry."

I'll save the rant about that for another time. Right now, if ANYONE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD has gotten a 9700 to tether on T-Mobile on Mac OSX 10.5.x, email me.

Please do NOT email me with "when you find out, let me know, too." I have this specific config and if someone has a solution I have the power to broadcast it bigtime.

Again: if you are tethering a Blackberry 9700 to Mac OSX 10.5.x, tell me how. Where'd you get the scripts, since the blackberry.ccl won't work any more for me, and T-Mobile has washed their hands of the only reason I use TM.

Hi. I must preface this by saying I am completely computer illiterate. I am trying to tether my T-Mobile Blackberry 8100 to my Powerbook G4 computer (with is running on MAC OS X version 10.5.8), and I cannot figure out how to do that. I have downloaded the script, and have that in my modem scripts folder. On the forums it gives me a step by step how to do this, but once it gets to the place where I am to select the script from the folder, I do not have this option. My set up wizard just tells me that I can now use my device to access the internet, but does not allow me to chose the script to run. As a result, my Blackberry and my computer are paired, but not connected and I cannot get them to connect. I do have the little phone icon and when I click on it I can ask it to connect the internal modem, but it tells me the connection has failed and I need to verify my settings. Please help! Thank you so very much!!!
